The article is on the whole a pretty accurate empirical account of poltical reality in the u.s. today -- but as analysis it is seriously defective -- before something can be "on its death bed" it must first exist. But the reality is that for 30 years leftists have been trying to _generate_ a _movement_ -- trying quite unsuccessfully and for reasons beyond their control. The complaint about MoveOn illustrates this defect -- the MoveOn leadership are DP Pimps -- what else should be expected of them. It is like complaining that Al Capone was to discourteous.
Any analysis of "The Left" is profoundly flawed as soon as it uses that phrase.
