One of the more amusing media tropes you could see trying to poke its head up during the Putin era, but never really got anywhere because it was so obviously wrong and a result of free-association on the part of journalists ("Putin --> strong leader --> nationalists like strong leaders --> nationalists like Putin"), was that extreme Russian nationalists were big fans of Putin. Which is quite funny for anybody who has ever read an extreme Russian nationalist book or spoken with an extreme Russian nationalist, who were convinced that Putin was a tool of the Jews (and their everpresent partners in crime, the Masons).
