What do you think of LeCarre?

A couple of adolescent readings of Tom Clancy left me queasy about anything bearing a resemblance, but then after LeCarre's 2003 essay titled something like "America has lost its Marbles" I picked up The Tailor of Panama and it didn't suck. Or at least it didn't assume you were an idiot nationalist. That can be awfully refreshing.
