That's a good question, I'll guess that he was swayed by Edwards' more radical rhetoric, even though Kucinich is more progressive(IMO) than Edwards. He may also appreciate Edwards' work as a trial lawyer, reminding him of his "Nader's Raiders" days. Who knows.
Full disclosure, my union has endorsed Edwards, and I support him myself.
