The thing is, I actually think a regular comic on Kimmel's show, Jake Byrd, is sort of a genius. He's the one who dresses like wingnut -- t-shirts and beanie hats with slogans, but all pro-celebrity ("Free OJ!" "Liberate Paris!") and crashes celebrity press conferences.

And Kimmel has had some funny Chris Eliott skits. (Dunno how he got Elliott to do his show, but it was a parody of "To Catch a Predator," where Eliott pulls up in a big semi rig with a license plate that says "Nasty Boy," comes out of it wearing booty shorts and a huge backpack...)
