The Kansas City Star recently ran a feature on the scope of the sub-prime mortgage crisis in Kansas City. I recently saw a map of the situation in Cleveland published by the BBC. Looking at maps for Cleveland and Kansas City, it finally dawned on me that the whole sub-prime crisis isn't just something that is affecting home owners across racial and class lines, it really is a massive crime committed by corporations against poor and middle class people of color.

I'm just wondering if this crisis is really a powder keg that has yet to go off.

Here is the Star story:

American dreams built on a shaky foundation of subprime loans http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_action=doc&p_docid=11DDF3AFC30B9E08&p_docnum=16

The online story doesn't include the maps of where in the city people were getting subprime loans. In Kansas City, it's mostly the area of the city mostly populated by people of color, just like the situation in Cleveland.
