They're just big piles of rock to most of the population (nice-looking piles of rock that make useful landmarks. I tend to arrange meetings near the big Lenin-shaped pile of rock near my apartment, which is conveniently close to Starlight Diner ans some sushi places).
^^^^^^^ CB: How do you know that many people don't think of them as representing an ideal that someday will be pursued again ? The idea that people think of them as meaningless piles of rock doesn't seem plausible.
