Big Green, per usual, shares a big chunk of responsibility for almost every bad idea coming down the pike in this arena. Despite the fact that mainstream enviros may have long opposed federally subsidized ethanol production, their marriage of convenience with "geo-greens" (such as James Woolsey) several years ago dictated that _any and all_ alternatives to "foreign oil" in the name of "energy independence" would be granted discursive credibility.
