Come to think of it, I probably don't either -- but I'm sure they are not a function of intelligence: Many really slimy war criminals and CEOs have certainly been 'bright' enough.
It's just a bad habit of (presumably) intelligent people overestimating "intelligence" as a virtue in and of it self, and lack of "intelligence" as somehow a failing.
