Thanks Angelus and Carrol for publishing/promoting this article. I thought it was first rate, and am looking for other stuff this guy wrote.

His distinction between Rousseauean and Marxist socialism was very helpful in putting various socialist movements/trends in perspective. I couldn't quite tell whether he was arguing for a stagist theory of socialism. And I couldn't quite tell how the proletariat could abolish itself without first taking power, and I couldn't tell how it could take power without organizing as a proletariat....but perhaps others could enlighten me.
At any rate, I thought his critique of Rousseauean socialism was very good.
