You are not only conflating the early Marx, which made this expression explicitly, with the later Marx, where it largely disappeared, but assuming that Gattungswesen means a timeless, unchanging essence. It doesn't; it's always historical. It would be impossible to think of communism with a static idea of species being.

Foucault says exaclty the opposite. Power isn't, or isn't just, repressive. It's positive also.
