And as I intended to indicate, the "smaller" whole that I was interested in was capitalism. I have no idea whether that big whole is a whole or not. (Neither did Engels: he left it open whether or not physics could eventually be reduced to mechanics.) Ted and Whitehead would, I guess, disagree with me on this, but I think it is at least possible that the ONLY 'whole' to which dialectics applies is capitalism.
