heh. no worries. i couldn't be arsed to read your response anyway. it's
not that i don't have criticisms. but when you are responding to folks who
claim that butler is an antifoundationalist, then you have to take baby
steps. i'm not going to going into critique mode until we're on the same
page. similarly, when someone thinks that social constructionism entails a
denial of the existence of material things and "facts" then I'm not apt to
engage in a critique of soc con until we've gotten over that hurdle.

i mean, if you are arguing with an anti-marxist to explain that, say, marx
wasn't much of a gun-grabber, you're hardly going to engage in your own
criticisms of marxist thought now are you?

if you think i'm an asshole, a bore, less than radical, or whatever i
guess i don't really care. why should i? ones and zeros baby. ones and
zeros. aside from which, apologies in email format are typically power
plays... er, i mean: always implicated in power. :)

i'll let doug answer this with reference to research, but the people i
personally knew who peddled this stuff hardly ever got grants and were the
most politically active people i knew on campus. i peddle some of this
stuff and i'd hardly call me apolitical. but feel free to call me that.
