With DOUG HENWOOD (Left Business Observer),

^^^^ With a lot of energy for looking under every rock for things wrong with O, he is fast becoming one of the nations's leading left experts on anything and everything bad about Barry. ( But not McCain).

^^^

The Democratic Party may have unified behind Barack Obama's presidential bid, but the American left has not. Some progressives argue that we should largely silence our concerns about Obama's policy shortcomings, from Israel and Iraq to the economy and healthcare, at least until he gets elected. Others contend that his weakness on these and other issues is simply unforgiveable, and that the left should not be seen in such company. ^^^

CB: The language here kind of gives y'all away. "Simply unforgivable" and "not be seen in such company" sounds like the dialect of the socialite left. I'm sure Barry will forgive you, even if you don't forgive him for his sins against the holy left. Maybe you could send this out to all the folksy folks in W. Virginia and Kentucky to help Barry shed that slanderous "Northeast elitist" tag. "Socialist socialites embarrassed to be seen with Barry" ^^^^^

And yet a third group insists that though we should do so without illusions, critically supporting Barack's presidential bid opens opportunities for building

progressive politics and perhaps even pulling the candidate in our direction.

Our customary panel of eloquent and erudite experts will cover the spectrum of left attitudes towards Obama. ^^^^ CB: Anybody going to emphasize the central historical importance of so many White people voting for a Black person for President ?

^^^^^

We can't promise to resolve the debate. But we hope to make the issues at stake a little clearer,

while informing, and even entertaining, along the way.

Refreshments will be served
