Yes, that is exactly what McCain is under, the
military disability/retirement system. (As my
original, thread-starting post mentioned, with the
quote from the LA Times, which featured a military guy
defensively, well, defending McCain's payments $50k+
per year payments, which is in addition to the other

I dunno, it all still just hits me the wrong way.
Maybe I am some sort of right winger at heart for this
striking me, at a gut-level, as sort of screwy.
