[lbo-talk] Obama defends capital punishment for child rape; Nationapologizes for him

Early in the primary campaign, when Clinton more or less assumed she
would win the nomination, one could construe her speeches and other acts
as creating "room to act" as president -- hence refusal to push
withdrawal from Iraq.

Obama now has the nomination. He could be focusing on "vote-getting,"
but at least consider the possibility that he is doing now what Clinton
did 8 months ago: establishing room for action when he becomes
president.
