Correa just appeared on TV. He read a communique with a grave voice.
He gave what he called "irrefutable" details of the killing of 20
guerrilla fighters (3 wounded, women). He showed that it was well
planned, with "full awareness" of their being in violation of
Ecuador's sovereignty. After the bombing by the air force, the
Colombian armed forces penetrated at least 10 kilometers into the
Ecuador's territory and attacked from the south. Troops were brought
there by helicopters, after the bombing. Uribe lied to Ecuador. Not
only did Colombia violated international law, but -- Correa said --
Colombia betrayed the trust and respect that neighborly and brotherly
countries owe to each other. Correa invited the international
solidarity. He mobilized troops to the border with Colombia, called a
meeting of the council of national security, expelled in force
"immediately" the Colombian ambassador in Ecuador, and formally
applied for an OEA and Mercosur meeting. The ministers of the
interior followed and gave further details of the results of the
investigation. The minister of defense then answered questions from
the press.
