The DP & RP are vague collections, not parties, and that is a major
source of reactionary politics. Primaries are about as bad a way of
choosing candidates as one can imagine. A real Party chooses its
candidates, which are then ratified or rejected by popular vote in the
general election. Primaries more or less make it impossible to elect
social democratic or in gneral 'progressive' candidates. Like
plebiscites, they destroy democracy.
But as Michael Smith and/or Jerry say, why the hell should we care one
way or the other. They are all war criminals or
war-criminals-in-waiting.
