A Lancaster man was found dead early this morning on a city street with an arrow through his chest, authorities said today.
Passersby spotted the body about 1:45 a.m. and called for help, telling Los Angeles County sheriff's officials they believed a pedestrian had been struck by a car.
Authorities responding to the scene at 13th Street East and Avenue K in Lancaster instead found the man dead with an arrow through the front of his chest, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Maribel Rizo.
She said there was no evidence of a traffic collision. The dead man is believed to be in his 60s and is a local transient, Rizo said. His name was not immediately released.
His death is being investigated as a homicide, Deputy Oscar Butao said.
Investigators are seeking information and may be reached at (323) 890-5500.
