^^^^ CB: O' s campaign's emphasis on White/Colored unity is radical. Not surprisingly a conservative "force" against his campaign "plays the race card", i.e. tries to stir up White prejudice against O.

Under the status quo, O's being "black" is a disadvantage to his success in the nomination campaign, contra Ferraro. His campaign itself has been surprisingly successful at realizing his campaign slogan of "change" in that he has inspired winning numbers of Whites to vote for a Black candidate, a big _change_ , for the US, enough Whites in combination with votes of color such that it seems he will get the most elected delegates.
