well, max is an example of goofiness: suggesting obama doesn't have a worship of money.

i was going to write about how this attitude is the kind of racist view described by Ellis Cashmore in _The Black Culture Industry_ the other day. I hadn't even read Cashmore yet, but it seemed obvious that people are fitting Teflobama into the good negro stereotype: the messiah. but more on that another time. too busy.

what i have observed, when it comes to otherwise radical black folks who are Obama supporters, it is precisely that they _refuse_ to say that it is because they'll "take a black man."

This is really evident among black feminists who support Teflobama. They are incensed that anyone thinks they are voting on the basis of race. But, as you say, even they acknowledge the similarities. So, in the end, if they're the same, what's the big deal if you use race or gender or socks or good looks or boxers or briefs or boy panties as what tips it in favor or one or the other?

ferraro's is right in a kernel of truth kind of way: what's tipping it for teflobama is that he is black. specifically, a black man.

so? that should be a good thing, eh?

there should be nothing especially shameful about that -- unless you ultimately buy into a liberal view of race. and the folks i describe above like to think they don't.but they do == and thus refuse to cop to the idea that they are voting on the basis of race. they then have to twist themselves into pretzel shapes as to why there's a big difference between the two.
