Since the U.S. economy is almost certainly in recession now, that  
means that Bush is the first pres since Eisenhower to preside over  
two downturns. Eisenhower had three: 1953-54, 1957-58, 1960-61, a  
total of ten quarters, almost a third of his time in office. Ah, the  
golden age.
