OK - I have trouble believing ties between Hillary and The Family are as close as portrayed. But I've been following the story of The Family in passing for years, and Ehrenreich is NOT exaggerating the nature of that organization. If anything she is understating. This is not simply another evangelical church. It is a Christian Reconstructionist Church. It is a core belief of the The Family that people with power are given that power by God, and the mission of the Church is reveal their destiny and their part in Gods plan to peopel with power. In practice this means that a core part of their mission is to become officials in governments, and advisers to the people at the top. That is not part of the self-proclaimed mission of your average right-wing evangelical church, not even of your average fundamentalist church. The dictator members of the Family were sought out for membership by the Family as part of its core mission.
