I think it was mass appeal or something, like the old IWW red songbook, that was the source of the lament. *******************
The IWW has taken tunes, everyone knows, and put new words to them. Wobs did this with Sunday School ditties back in the real old days. Lots of people still know these tunes e.g. "yes Jesus love me" can become "yes, bosses love me"
