[WS:] It seems that resorting to right wing populism the Amerika hating Wright, the bitter yokel comments, and gas tax holiday - elite economist thing) helped the sagging Clinton campaign quite a bit.
I am not sure, however, if blaming Clinton is the right thing. After all, presidential politics is only a reflection of popular sentiments and the status quo, not a vehicle of progressive social change. The Clintons are particularly good at exploiting these sentiments, or perhaps looking what works for the Repugs and then expliting that to their won advantage (aka "triangulating.") After all, it is a clever politcial strategy.
