Refer back to the Chomsky's "Vote Obama, but have no illusions about it" video if you have to. You saw the global electoral college map, right? It's only half a joke. All the countries are for Obama, with the US pathetically as "undecided." To just shit all over everyone else's opinions here in the US is pretty damn smug. It's either Obama or McCain/Plain (*shiver*), like it or not, and the rest of the world, not just us, will pay the consequences.
No one has said this will be the 2nd coming of Marx or Eugene Debs -- except the loony right, who are convinced a collectivist Socialist hell lies ahead. I'm personally kind of sick of the "above it all/you are naive fools to vote," etc., posturing, with apologies to my anarchist friends.
Many of whom seem unable to comprehend broad-based strategic actions and cannot get out of an either/or mindset when it comes to voting.
Even my normally docile white Catholic mom said she will riot "with the blacks" (she can't help it, she is Southern) if Obama loses or if some electioneering shenanigans happen.

I know many of them will be disappointed - and I also suspect many of them know pretty well what's likely to happen. (And it will freak the hell out of a lot of white racists.) Who am I, white boy leftist, to dismiss all that?"
