I can't imaginer that it will surprise you that lots of people don't parse things in the fine way that people philosophical training do. They think, or feel, N****rs are bad or Ice***ders are _bad_. If you can corner them in a bar or a  classroom and make them listen and talk to you, you might get them to say something like, oh, well, that's because they have bad blood or bad genes that predispose them towards acts or dispositions that would be bad no matter who did or had them -- but that's not the way normal people think, You have to go to philosophy grad school, as you and I did, to get your mind bent into this particular pretzel shape or to think the distinction matters very much.
