On Fri, 14 Nov 2008, Politico was quoted as saying:

> Thirty-one of the 47 people so far named to Obama's transition or staff
> posts have ties to the Clinton administration.

And the rest come his staff in Chicago. What other personnel pools would a Dem president draw from in a short time frame besides his staff and the staff of the last Dem president? Aren't these all posts where you need a resume in politics (as opposed to academia or think tanks?)

The "change" from the last two presidents is that they had the majority from their state and campaign staffs and O has a majority from the staff of the last president. And considering the comparison, that seems likely to be change for the better when it comes to competence.

A good executive hires capable people he trusts to carry out his wishes. That they carried out someone else's wishes in their last job is a given. But only in a dysfunctional executive branch is policy determined by a vote of the workers.
