It's peasant provincialness, is what it is. As old as humanity.

^^^^ CB: Actually, peasants don't come in until the origin of agriculture, which is tens of thousands of years after the origin of humanity. Peasants are not as old as humanity.

^^^^ People are capable of being as nasty as fascists, or nastier, without actually being fascists. Fascism does not mean "conservative + violent."

^^^ CB; Fascism is the open ( as opposed to veiled)terrorist rule of the most reactionary, chauvinist, jingoist sector of finance capital in the state-monopoly/imperialist phase of capitalism. The US is very much in the state-monopoly , finance capitalism, imperialism stage and so it is potentially fascist. The extreme crisis and near collapse of the economy that all agree is a dangerous potential of this moment makes the fascist danger ( not fascism right now) a greater possibility than in times without crisis.

What are the dangers we are trying to avoid by bailing out the Wall street banks ?
