The official unemployment figures:

Number of unemployed in September 08: -115.000 to 3.081.000 decline compared to same month last year: -463.000 unempolyment rate in September: -0,2 % to 7,4 %

Yes, the social situation is worse, compared to five or six years ago, because the so called "welfare reform" of the social democrats and greens took down the welfare payments and so established heavy pressure on wages, putting down the wage share to previously unknown level: 64,7 percent in 2007. Today one unemployed is -nominally, inflation disregarded - 7 % cheaper, compared to one three years ago. Total unemployment expenditure came down by 25 billion Euro to 68 billion (2005 to 2007).

But much more peoople are employed, busy, they have to look for their job and the decision about the deposit guarantee may well bee the last step towards the reelection of the Conservatives next year. The so called "Social Democrats" are so weak right now, there government may well bee formed by the liberals and the conservatives, so the dreams of capital - financial and "productive" capital - may come true.

Four yeras ago there was a - small - chance for appropriate resistance in Germany. The produced only a new, strictly parliamentary real social democratic party, the "LINKE" - "Lefts". Thats not enough for fighting the consequences of a real crisis, when it begins.
