There is something seriously wrong with this study. The only economic positions the Republicans offer is lower taxes, and that's a just a lie.
Instead offering political positions and policies, most Republicans supply a kind of white, ordinary guy identity, and that's about all they offer.
Since that identity is composed of social issues layered over a foundation of racism, it's pretty difficult to figure out how you can say these had little to do with a systemic erosion of white working class support for Democrats.
