Sure, but the distinction between us and them may be too sharply drawn here. If there were just a handful of ideologically imaginative Dem backbenchers who also showed some ability to appeal to the unindoctrinated - unlike, say, Kucinich or McKinney - that would be a big help to "us." The absence of such is a big reason why we feel so weak and a big reason why Tom Frank's arguments resonate with folks on the left.
