2000 was odd in that it was a very close race with the possibility that the popular vote winner wouldn't win the EC. We know that isn't an accurate description of what actually transpired but it was a distinct possibility.

I don't believe this election will be very close and taking things to court can only appear legitimate in the mainstream press if the vote is close. I think it's going to be a rout for McCain. Obama vs. McCain will look like Reagan vs. Carter. I really hope I don't have to eat those words in a few weeks time.

One more reason to doubt Palin is a logical choice for the next round. She will be associated with a huge humiliating defeat forever. Assuming things go as I predict they will :)
