The Washington office of Wall Street's favorite economist, Ed Hyman of
ISI, puts out an election update every Friday afternoon. Today's talks
about the beginning of a new Democratic era, very much like the
beginning of the Reagan years after 1980. Both periods share crises of
their reigning economic paradigms. They're looking to higher taxes on
the upper brackets, higher corp taxes, changes in labor law (e.g.
EFCA), cap & trade on CO2, etc. They see this as not a matter of just
four years, but ten or more.
Not saying this is right, but there you go.
