y'all should read the link i posted. this is not about individuals going off and doing it for fun -- like any old joe can aeriel shoot wolves. it is tightly regulated.

the controversy has to do with the fact that, because so few people actually want to aerial hunt down wolves, palin wanted to pay them 150 a pop to increase the number of people willing to do it. for some reason, people in alaska think aerial gunning of wolves is the most efficient way to keep the wolf population at manageable levels.

then there's gar's story about how the real issue is that palin isn't dealing (or hasn't been informed of) options and data as to whether the wolf population is "too" high, if they are really responsible for attacking caribou, elk, moose (or are more scavengers in their behavior). blah blah.
