No, the second is exactly the gender gap they've traditionally measured: women +/- for the Repug/Dem. Not the gender gap for primary candidates. IIRC correctly, there was none until 1980, which was also the year when women's voting participation finally equalled (and thereafter surpassed) men's after decades of lagging behind.
