Barney Frank Celebrates Free Market Day House Financial Services Committee ChairmanBarney Frank (D., Mass.) began a hearing Wednesday by saying — in jest — that he was going to introduce a resolution declaring Sept. 15 “Free Market Day.” Sept. 15 was the Monday after the government declined to step in to rescue Lehman Brothers, but it was one day before the government took a much different approach to prevent the collapse of American International Group Inc.
