^^^^^^ CB: The other point here is why are you pointing out that liberals and leftists are giving Obama support _because_ he is Black as if they are incorrect in doing so ? What is your political theory underlying that criticism ?

Just as in the campaign part of the reason to support him was because he is Black, in office part of the reason to support him is that he is Black, given he is not a reactionary. His campaign and office holding

represent , still, an historic step forward for anti-racist and racial unity. The goals of racial equality and unity are central principle of left politics. Still !. Remember ? Indifference to race, a colorblind perspective, criticism of socalled identity politics are not the left position on Obama. The goal of racial equality is not fully achieved. Part of that goal is individuals from oppressed races holding leading offices. A Black person, left-liberal, as President is an achievement in that regard. Leftists are supposed to give special support to that affirmative action. What's your left theory to the contrary ? Having some bad personal experiences with "nationalists" is not an excuse for a leftist to totally ditch affirmative action.

I'd say leftists should give critical support to Obama. I would raise some cricitisms in a friendly way here , but the talk is so weirdly ,passionately skewed anti-O I have to try to balance it in the other direction. What's up with being so antagonistic to him ? What's up with complete silence on the pay equity law, et al. Bizarre and politically way incorrect, ultraleft nonsense. Burnham's discussion should be reread by all.

On Kerry, it would depend on what he did. If he would have done good things, those should have been supported. I mean lets growup.
