I would take the poll seriously if the question were something roughly
like the following:

If a militant Socialist Movement was occupying public attention, would
you consider joinging it?

If you would not consider joining it, would you contribute money to the
local chapter of the movement?

Not quite right but in the ball park. The only socialist opinion that
counts is that which shows _some_ tendency to joing some sort of
organization supporting socialism.
