I'm going to get to James' argument in the next couple of days, but its
worth noting that Foucault actually ends D+P with fairly extensive
quotations from Marx (with the laudatory citation and all), although
Foucault is much more interested in the shifts in what is criminal under
capitalism (Marx actually deals with this in his piece on the theft of
fire wood) and the shift from a punishment of the body to a punishment of
the 'soul' (I can go into this if so desired.) On the other hand, the
concept of labor power remains without citation. robert wood
