FOSS is, at the least, a different strategy for facilitating 
collaboration. No one, at this stage of the game, has a clue as to 
whether it will succeed or fail.

Your quote is almost akin to Cde Cox' Cambrian explosion notion of the 
overcomeability of capitalism. No need for seeds taking root and being 
watered in seemingly desolate soil.
