It's free. It's got a zillion apps that you can run for free. It provides a framework for those who want to (and have the time to) learn more about the things they use. It fosters co-operative production. It's based on an OS that's inherently more secure than Redmond. It's a better server platform. It lays the groundwork for defeating private and closed ownership of one of the most important technologies of the present and definitely the future. And it’s a helluva lot of LESS WORK than Windows (for most use cases). Don't believe me? Ask my mother. She used to use Windows XP. Now runs Ubuntu on one system and Mac OS X on another. Remember that back in 200x (where x < 5) I used to recommend Windows over GNU/Linux for end users, despite my great affection for FOSS. So this is not just ideology on my part. As Dwayne writes, Ubuntu really changed things.

Oh no, you didn't! Bravo!!! Bravo!

More cheekiness: I think Dwayne is spot on here re: Uncle Chuck.
