What is amazing about Simmons is that he's such a genre-crossing author. He can do theological space opera, Steven-Kingesque horror, historical fiction, anything. He's an astounding talent.

And also freakishly right-wing. (See Olympus.)

Nevertheless, he's a friggin' genius.
