Sometimes it seems rather more deliberate than (mostly spontaneous) ideology. I mean, it's hard to believe (and I usually prefer totake people at face value for critical purposes) that some big-shot economists honestly believe themselves. One quite slight indicatin would be that in some past periods strongly anti-marxist economists would never the less tolerate ther "non-orthodox" econooomists in t heir journals and their departments, but that hasn't been so for a long time. What are they afraid of?
