I've used the European & Chinese (http://wikitravel.org/en/High-speed_rail_in_China) high-speed rail systems and they're great. Nice to think America may be catching up. I wonder if Canada might follow.
However, I'm not sure about the economics vs. population density. It might work in dense areas, say Boston-NY-Washington, but not others.
