hmmm. that's not what i mean by abstract. i meant more like: unexplained. and also, what you said about not really getting a sense of the "precise political conclusions Postone personally draws from his work". That's precisely what I mean by abstract.

as i've been reading for immersion -- kind of letting the ideas wash over me -- i'd forgotten that postone's introduces the term in his discussion of Hegel -- which i skimmed because i knew precisely where he was going with that one. so my bad for having skimmed because the answer was in the book -- and a consult of the index. :)
