Was it all those years in Trotskyist party politics that taught you to distort people's arguments? I have no problem with subsidies on principle. I can't stand it when people collect big federal subsidies and then go on about self-reliance and the evils of big gummint - which is exactly the case with the U.S. south and mountain west. They take the cash from the "blue" states and then vote Republican. This is an irrefutable fact, not a matter of opinion.
