Orwell - whether or not he would have liked it - is deeply embedded
into the liberal canon now; it's a common sense and ordinary reality
that's been built around him (or at least "1984," "Animal Farm," and
"Politics and the English Language," nothing else being a regular part
of people's formal political education.) It's like reading the KJV and
noting how full of cliches it is.
