It barely does have anything substantive wo do with Iran. The thread development went like this:
A: "They are protesting in Iran" B: "We're not sure just what they are in favor of or whether their concerns are the same as most Iranians, or rather are a minority concern. This has to be determined empirically" A: "No they are protesting against religious rule and in favor of cool Western stuff and lots of Iranians agree with them" B: "How do you know?" A: "You are eroticizing the Iranians!" B: "Huh?"
