C Doss oughta read Robert Kaplan's An Empire Wilderness, a US travelogue. Politically, it's the usual neo-con/neo-lib claptrap from Kaplan, but it has the virtue of exoticizing little corners of the US in the same way Kaplan exoticizes the Balkans or the Caucasas or anywhere he's "reported" (sic) from.
